Carl Frank Hoffman, 79, of West Springfield, Massachusetts, passed away on Thursday morning, August 29, 2019. He was surrounded by close family.
Carl was born on April 24, 1940 in Westfield, Massachusetts to Frank and Louise Hoffman. He graduated from West Springfield High School in 1958. Carl worked as an electrician for many years at Milton Bradley which later became Hasbro. He had a great sense of humor, was always quick to lend a hand, and had a huge heart. After retirement, he loved being an active member of the Elks Lodge (originally a member of West Springfield and later Holyoke) and dedicated much of his time helping the lodge fix whatever needed repairing. When he wasn’t working or drinking with friends at the Elks Lodge, he enjoyed gardening and working on multiple projects at the same time. He had an amazing ability to create, design, and build things to which we could only marvel and wonder how he could accomplish such feats by himself. Only a few short years ago, he built a treehouse for his grandchildren in South Florida that would have made the Swiss Family Robinson proud.
Carl is survived by his four children; Cameron Hoffman and his wife Shari of Coral Springs, Florida, Tambria Dery and her husband Kevin of Coconut Creek, Florida, Darien Hoffman of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Marlena Timins of Oxford, Massachusetts; five grandchildren, Chandler Hoffman, Chase Hoffman, Nolen Dery, Valyn Dery, and Taryn Dery. Carl was preceded in death by his parents and younger sister Elaine Hoffman.
Funeral Services for Carl Hoffman will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Westfield Funeral Home on 4 Princeton St, Westfield, MA 01085. Burial will follow the funeral services at St. Mary’s Cemetery on 203 Southampton Rd, Westfield, MA 01085.
