Benedict “Ben” John Wisniewski, 99, passed away at home on Wednesday, August 5, 2020. Ben was born on February 19, 1921 in Westfield, son to the late John and Amelia (Kalinowski) Wisniewski. Ben was raised and educated in Westfield and was a 1940 graduate from the Westfield Trade School Machine Department. Ben proudly served his country in the United States Navy, during WWII. He worked as a machinist for Pratt and Whitney and later for the Westfield Public School System in the maintenance department. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and walks in the woods. He enjoyed his gardens, making pickles, and going out and about. He was an avid watcher of the western channel as well as the Red Sox and the Patriots. He is survived by his beloved daughter Christine Malachowski, and cherished “Gramps” to Marci Cooley and her husband Charlie. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Amelia Wisniewski, his son-in-law Donald Malachowski, and his five sisters. He will be dearly missed by many family and friends including David & Sandi Cortis, Denny Placzek, and Simon and Izzy. A burial with full military honors will take place on August 19, 2020 at 2 PM at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street in Agawam.
