Catherine Ann (Sullivan) Morris Fletcher born in Jamaica Plain, MA on 1/19/1935 and passed on 12/7/2025 in CT surrounded by her family. Ann, as she liked to be called, was the daughter of the late Cornelius (Tom) Sullivan and the late Frieda Sullivan. She was the widow of George Morris and James Fletcher. She was predeceased by her son George Morris of Westfield, MA, her brother Thomas Sullivan of San Francisco, California, and her brother James Sullivan of Newburyport, MA.
Ann attended Girls Latin School in Boston. She was an accomplished pianist who was part of the Boston High School Symphony Orchestra. She moved to Hingham and graduated from Hingham High in 1952. She was a member of the varsity girls’ basketball team and was nicknamed Stretch. She was also a member of the tennis team, softball team, ski club, golf club, orchestra, and was an honor roll student. She was a skier from age 5 on and a tennis player throughout high school. She moved to the Western Mass area in 1962 and settled in Southwick, Mass but never stopped missing the ocean and moved back to Cohasset in 2015. She was an avid competitive roller skater and was a member of the Babbs Roller Skating Club in Suffield, CT. Ann loved to take her yearly ‘sister vacations’. She enjoyed traveling, cross-country skiing, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, reading, gardening, and any activity that would keep her mind sharp and expand her knowledge. Ann had a witty sense of humor and liked to tell tall tales and have healthy debates on various subjects. Although she was strongly independent, she loved spending time with friends and sending out her ‘yup/mup’ calendar every morning and meeting frequently for coffee dates at Murphys Donuts, and later The Notch, in Southwick, MA with her close Southwick friends. After moving back to Cohasset, she looked forward to her Thursday morning breakfast at Strawberry Fair with her Cohasset friends and Monday morning coffee gatherings at the Cohasset Senior Center where she was very involved and was part of the bowling team and various exercise classes. Her great smile and witty sense of humor gave you no other choice but to love her. She lived her life following her favorite saying ‘the rules do not apply to me’!
Ann is survived by her children Kathryn (Morris) LeBlanc of Portland, CT, and Thomas Fletcher of Grass Valley, California. She was predeceased by her son George Morris of Westfield, MA. She leaves to cherish her best friends from the Southwick area Jane Normandi of Suffield, CT and Bob Jendza of Agawam, MA and her best friends from the Cohasset area her ‘wannabe sister’ Gerry (Leone) and her husband Charlie Henry of Cohasset, MA, and Valerie Leri of Forestdale, MA.
Ann chose to donate her body to science to help medical students who are attending UMASS Medical School gain knowledge. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be directed to the COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce De Leon Blvd Miami, FL 33134 www.copdfoundation.org, or donations may also be directed to the American Lung Associated, PO Box 756 Oscola WI 54020-0756 www.lung.org.
We pray for Ann’s soul to be in heaven where she will rest in eternal peace with her mother, father, brothers, and her son George. Ann always said that she thought heaven was a big beach where everyone sat around with their toes in the sand and a drink in their hand. I hope Ann is enjoying the seashore with her friends that ‘went to the beach’ before her, including Carol Dunn, her longtime friend from high school.
A memorial mass will be said in Ann’s honor at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Hingham, MA on Thursday, 12/18/2025, at 10:00am and at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Southwick, MA on 12/20/2025 at 10:00am.
