Chris passed away on April 7, 2022, at home in Southampton, MA after battling cancer.
He is survived by his children, Heidi Bascom, Joshua Bascom, his ex-wife, LaVada Duncan Bascom, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his mother, Eleanor Vanderpoel Bascom and four siblings.
Chris grew up in South Hadley, where he was involved in the Boy Scouts and high school band (Class of ’71).
He worked for 50 years at Spalding/Calloway in Chicopee. He was a member of the Mount Holyoke Mason’s Lodge. An avid reader, hard worker, and supportive father and grandfather, he is much loved and will be greatly missed.
A period of visitation will be held at Westfield Funeral Home, 4 Princeton St, Westfield, MA 01085 on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, from 4:00 -6:00 PM
