Deanna Marie (McKenna) Hicks

We learned on the morning of Wednesday May 19th of the unfortunate and sudden passing of our Mother, Wife, Daughter and Sister, Deanna Hicks. Dee passed peacefully in her sleep with her pup Miela by her side. She leaves behind her best friend and husband of 40 years, Ken Hicks, her father Thomas McKenna, her son Ryan Hicks, her daughter and son-in-law Katie and Kyle Devoe, as well as her grandson Cole DeVoe. She also leaves behind her brother and his wife, Michael and Michele McKenna, her nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Our mother was a wonderful woman. While there were times through-out her life we and others clashed with her, it was always clear that it was because she cared SO MUCH and wanted nothing but the best for everyone involved that it could frustrate her when she couldn't do enough for someone. Whether it be a little girl who she chose to take in as her own, or a four-legged friend with months left to live, Dee opened her home and heart to anyone in need of a family. She was a strong, caring, and compassionate person whose love of animals was only eclipsed by her love of her family. Even later in life as some physical struggles took their toll, there was nothing that was able to keep her from finding a way to help, care, and make the lives of others that much better than they had been. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
