EDWARD STEPHEN THOMAS SR.

WESTFIELD – Edward Thomas Sr, 86, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA

Ed was born on December 8, 1938, in Endicott, NY, to Benjamin Thomas and Marie (Beaurn) Thomas.

Ed proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962.

He worked as a paper cutter at Old Colony Envelope for 38 years and for 20 years at the Blandford Transfer Station.

In his free time, Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing slots.  He always looked forward to a hot breakfast and enjoyed chicken, hot dogs, and seafood as some of his favorite meals. 

Ed is predeceased by his parents Benjamin and Marie Thomas, his wife Lillian (LaPlante) Thomas, his daughter Marie Jemiolo and her husband Craig, and his brother Robert Thomas and his wife Evelyn. 

Survivors include his sons: Edward Thomas Jr and his wife Jami of  Westfield, MA, Mitchell Thomas of NC, and Trevor Thomas and his wife Katelyn of Westfield, MA; his grandchildren: Samantha Kastrati and her husband Granit of East Longmeadow, MA, Valeena Caputo, Jennifer Caputo, Alex Caputo all of Quincy, MA, Nichole Tweedly and her husband Vince of VA, and Lily Thomas of Westfield, MA, many great grandchildren, his nieces Kathy Preuss of Westfield, MA and Margaret Monterosso of FL, along with many other nieces, nephews, family members and close friends.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a committal service with full Military Honors at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St, Agawam, MA 01001, at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, November 5, 2025
