Evelyn Rebecca (Stanford) Scigulinsky

WESTFIELD - Evelyn Rebecca Scigulinsky, 99, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Genesis Healthcare Westfield Center in Westfield, MA. 

Evelyn was born in Reymerston, Norfolk, United Kingdom on August 11, 1922, to Edward Stanford and Evelyn (Turner) Stanford. She lived and worked on a family farm and took pride in taking care of their various animals, including her beloved horses, dogs, and cats.

In 1947, Evelyn embarked on a journey to the United States of America with her new husband Frank Scigulinsky. Despite living in the US for many years, Evelyn's true heart was always in England.  In fact, she never lost her British accent and fondly shared memories, songs, and stories from her home.  

Evelyn enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening in her spare time, also reading and writing letters. Her homemade chocolate chip cookies were her own recipe and a special treat for her grandchildren. She also loved visiting and watching two of her great-grandchildren, Mary Evelyn and Sonny Oleksak Barus run circles around her.

Evelyn is predeceased by her parents Edward and Evelyn Stanford, her husband Frank Scigulinsky, her daughter Melissa Pendleton, her brother Luke Stanford, and her sisters Eugene Arthurton and Eileen Paterson. 

Survivors include her son Frank Scigulinsky of Westfield, MA, her daughter Modwyn Oleksak and her husband Andrew of Westfield, MA, 3 grandchildren, Alex, Rachael, and Charlotte, 5 great-grandchildren, Olivia, Evelyn, Jennaveeve, Mary Evelyn, and Sonny, her son-in-law Jerry Pendleton of West Yarmouth, MA, along with many other extended family members and friends. 

Evelyn's family would like to thank Genesis Healthcare for all their help over the years, especially Donna in Activities.  Without your kindness and compassionate natures, Evelyn would not have thrived.  

Family and friends are invited to gather from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Friday, October 22, 2021, at Westfield Funeral Home, 4 Princeton St, Westfield, MA 01085 proceeding to St. Mary’s Cemetery, Westfield, MA for a graveside service at 11:45 AM
