Gilbert M. Godbout

Gilbert Mario Godbout , 56, passed away unexpectedly on April 8, 2020.  Gilbert was born September 12, 1963, son to Gabriel and Carmen Godbout.  Gilbert grew up in the Brightwood area of Springfield, until his teens when moved to West Springfield.  He was a graduate of Putnam Vocational Tech and graduated in 1981 where he took up the trade of mechanics.  But his real joy and success was carpentry.  At a young age Gilbert followed in his Dad's footstep and worked construction along side his father.  He enjoyed listening to 80's music, and had a strong passion for playing the drums, and spending time with his family.  He had loving relationship with his siblings, and he spoke french fluently.   People who would say he's just like his dad. He was a soft tone, gentle hearted and giving soul.  Gilbert had a special personality, everyone enjoyed being in his presence.  Gilbert is survived by his mother Carmen Therberge Godbout of West Springfield, his wife Leigh Godbout, and his children Brandon, Deidra and Lauren.  He was the caring brother to Violette Batchelor, Danny Godbout and his ex wife Roseanne, Claude Godbout and his wife Alma, Richard Godbout, Steven Godbout and his wife Cathy, and Peter Godbout.  He will be missed by his god children Dominic Godbout and Amanda Hernandez, former wife Diane Beaudry, many nieces, nephews, cousins , his dedicated best friend Richard LeClaire and to all who knew him.
