JAMES FRANCIS SANCTUARY

EASTHAMPTON – James F. Sanctuary, 76, passed away at his home in Easthampton on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

James was born on April 4, 1949, in Northampton, MA to the late Eugene Sanctuary and Doris (Dewey) Sanctuary.

James proudly served his country in the United States Army. 

James was a devoted husband and honored his wife, Lousie, most beautifully.

He was a huge Patriots fan and also enjoyed the Bruins.  James enjoyed spending time with nature, observing, photographing, and writing short stories.  He also enjoyed sharing his short stories about butterflies and the Animal Kingdom.  In his spare time, James enjoyed collecting stamps, coins, and baseball cards.  He even enjoyed learning about gemstones with his wife. 

In addition to his parents, James is also predeceased by 2 brothers: Joe Sanctuary and Jerry Sanctuary, 2 sisters: Gloria Zadworny and Gail Costigan,  and his brothers-in-law Stanley Kulas, Paul Scagliarini, Henrique Placido, and Ronald Williams.

Survivors include his wife Louise C. (Williams) Sanctuary of Easthampton, MA, his brothers Jeff Sanctuary and his wife Darlene of CT, Jon Sanctuary of Northampton, MA,  and Jay Sanctuary and his wife Roberta of  NH, his sister Gwen Kulas of Belchertown, MA, his sister-in-law Fred Sanctuary of Blandford, MA, Cindy Scagliarini of Becket, MA, and Debbie Placido of Florence, MA, his brothers-in-law Joe Zadworny of Florence, MA,  and Daniel Costigan of Deerfield, MA,  along with many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

All services for James will be private.
