James Joseph LaFreniere, 56, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, from a short illness with his loved ones by his side. Jim was born on May 31, 1964 in Westfield, son to Harold L. LaFreniere and Carole A. (Curtiss) Thornton. Jim honorably served his country in the United States Army and Army National Guard. Jim was a true patriot who loved his country and collected anything red, white, blue, and American Eagles. He enjoyed listening to classic rock music in his car for hours. Jim was the type of man who would always be there to lend a helping hand. He always made sure that Sue had beautiful flowers in her garden. Jim is survived by his mother Carole Thornton, his beloved companion Sue Avondo, his children Kristina LaFreniere, Adam Lafreniere and his wife Sara. He was the cherished grandfather to 14 grandchildren and cherished brother to Deborah LaFreniere, Ronda Miller and her husband Christopher, Denise Sneade and her husband Donald, and twin brother Johnny LaFreniere. He will be dearly missed by his good friend John Haley and to all who knew him. Jim was predeceased by his father Harold LaFreniere and his step father Ronald Thornton.
