John P. Sylvain, 71, passed away at home on March 9, 2021.  Born in Westfield on November 1, 1949, he was the son to the late Wilfred and Dama Sylvain.  John enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam Era.  He later worked for the Westfield Public Works Department until his retirement.  He was a free spirit, dog lover, collector of knives, proud veteran and deep down, a very gentle soul.  John is survived by his sisters Michelle, Carol, Jeanna and his adopted daughter Kathryn, who was also his caretaker for many years.  He also leaves behind his cherished life long friends Bob and Billy.  John was predeceased by his parents, and his three sisters, his brother and his favorite dogs Sarge and Bear.  A private funeral will take place for the family.   Our sincere gratitude to all who reached out to him.  John is resting now.  To express condolences to the family of John, please visit www.westfieldfuneralhome.com for John’s tribute page.
