John Cobb Syphrit

John Cobb Syphrit, 84, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.  John was born on May 26, 1936 in Newark, NJ, son to the late Jake Sr., and Fay (Seal) Syphrit.  John was a longtime resident of Westfield, working as a computer software engineer for many years before retirement.  He will be remembered by family and friends as a loving and devoted father and grandfather.  He continuously put others before himself and was always willing to lend a hand. He touched the lives of everyone he met thanks to his kind heart and adoring humor. He took great pride in the military and local police departments. He served the country he loved in the US Air Force. John was an avid gardener, often sharing from his garden, enjoyed fishing and collecting coins. You often found him watching John Wayne movies or listening to Johnny Cash.  John is survived by his beloved daughters Susan Faye Syphrit of Cape Coral, FL and Tina Yvon and her husband Jon of Westfield, his two cherished grandchildren Emma and Jonny, and his brother Jake Jr. Syphrit of North Carolina.  He was predeceased by his daughter Julieanne Syphrit and his sister Polly Shay Syphrit.  The funeral for John will be private for the family.  To express condolences to the family of John, please visit www.westfieldfuneralhome.com for John’s tribute page.
