Joyce Ellen Popek, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27th surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was born in Pittsfield on September 24, 1934, daughter to the late Norman and Irene (Pratt) O’Brien. Joyce worked as a nurse at Westfield Manor Nursing Home for many years before her retirement. She is survived by her devoted husband of almost 69 years to Donald Popek, and her children Virginia Andrews, Phyllis Lussier and her husband Alan, Christine Czepiel, Donna Achee and her husband Larry, Valerie Popek, Heidi Pike and her husband Richard, and Heather Mello and her husband Thomas. She is the cherished grandmother to 12 grand children and 11 great grand children. She is predeceased by her children Donald “Skippy” Popek Jr., Elaine Popek, Karen Popek, and her son-in-laws Henry Andrews and Peter Czepiel. The family will hold a private service for Joyce.
