Kathleen Ann Greany, 61, passed away at home peacefully surrounded by her loving children on 8/13/2021 after a long battle with COPD. Kay died as she had lived; on her terms and with grace and humor. Kathy leaves behind her children, Michael and Sharon (Menard) Greany of Westfield, Angela and Jim Mulkerin of West Springfield, and Christopher and Stefanie (Sudyka) Greany of Agawam. She also leaves behind her bunch of wonderful grandkids, James, Logan, Noah, Teagan, Sylvia, Patrick, Katherine and brand new baby Kade, each one a blessing, and she wished for each grandchild to be happy, healthy and even half as willful as their parents were growing up, because she believed her kids deserved the challenge. She also leaves behind her beloved mother Jane Turnbull of West Springfield, and her brothers and sisters-in-law Ken and Judy Turnbull (Palatka, FL), Mark and Sue Turnbull (Springfield, MA), her ex husband Gary Greany of Westfield, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She is predeceased by her father, Richard Turnbull and her sister, Lynn Marie. Kathy was a long time employee at the Springfield Union News and Sunday Republican in a variety of capacities. She loved her work and she loved the people she worked with. She enjoyed reading, especially the latest novels from Stephen King, and loved growing plants and flowers of all sorts. She was especially proud of keeping her favorite orchid alive for almost two decades. She passed her love of growing things on to all three of her children. The funeral for Kathy will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of Western and Central Massachusetts, their compassionate care and skilled providers were a gift to Kathy and her family in her last months.
