Kathryn (McLean) Degon

Kathryn (Kay) Degon, 90, wife of the late Howard H Degon passed away on June 6th peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Kathryn was born January 21, 1929 in Starkville, VT to the late Charles and Maude (Saunders) McLean. She lived in Vermont and Holyoke, MA for most her life before moving to Westfield. She worked at Spaulding for many years and Hallmark Distributors as a supervisor for over 10 years. Kathryn was a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge of Bellows Falls, VT. She enjoyed dancing, listening to music, going to tag sales, playing bingo and most of all spoiling her grandchildren.  Kathryn is survived by her children Candy Fontaine and her husband Gary of Westfield,  Mark  Rzeznikiewicz and his wife Bonita of Lunenburg and Robina Carestia of Chicopee. She was the most cherished Grandmother to Allan, Daniel, Kaylee, Nathan, Kayla, Evan, Amanda, and Julie. Kathryn is a Great Grandmother to 7.   She will be dearly missed by her sister Doris Bessette and her buddy/nephew Raymond Mclean. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Kathryn was predeceased by her son Peter Rzeznikiewicz, her brothers Charlie, Wayne, Donald, Bernard and her sister Mary. A celebration of Kathryn’s life will be private for family and friends and will be notified at a later date.
