MICHAEL JOHN MONGEAU

WARE – Michael John Mongeau, 62, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA, after an extended illness. 

Michael was born on March 9, 1964, in Holyoke, MA.  He attended local schools and had worked in construction for many years. 

Many will miss his caring and compassionate heart and the warm friendship he so easily shared with others.  Michael gave himself to all he knew. 

Michael loved all animals from a very early age. He was a friend of Bill W and a collector of many things, including his most prized collections of rocks, gems, and elephants.  He also enjoyed expressing his love for elephants with his many elephant tattoos.

He leaves his mother, Ruth D. (Le Blanc) Mongeau of Chicopee, his sister Darlene Ducott of Westfield, MA, his brothers, Kenny Mongeau and his partner, Kathryn of Chicopee, MA, and Richard Mongeau of Chicopee, MA, along with many other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other family members.
