Mark Normantowicz Obituary

Mark Leonard Normantowicz, 67, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2019 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Westfield on June 17th, 1952,- son to the late Leonard and Elise (Aust) Normantowicz. Mark was a husband to Ren Normantowicz for over 35 years, a father to daughters Robyn and Rachel Normantowicz, a father-in-law to Charles Miller, a proud grandpa to his beloved granddaughter Adeline, a friend, neighbor, teacher, musician, technical wizard, member of the American Legion and Rolling Thunder, and a deep lover of all things nature.
He was a true New Englander who loved wearing all patterns of flannel even at the same time regardless if they matched or not. He lived out his days enjoying the log cabin he had built for his family on top of a mountain where the stars shown brightly at night. He enjoyed a life-long romance with music and played acoustic guitar until his fingers could no longer handle it.
He spent his whole adult career at Holyoke Community College working as an electronics tech, always evolving as technology did. Throughout his 30+ years there, he worked in the computer lab, the robotics lab, the physics lab, the audio-visual lab, and in the 3-D imaging lab.
He had the spirit of a warrior but beneath that armor was a gentle man, with generous intentions who always provided for his wife and had her back. He was a man with stubbornness so great that, despite a cancer diagnosis, he continued to fight a battle lasting seven years before finally succumbing to the disease. He fought with grace, humor and tenacity and saw to it that he could enjoy his daughter Rachel graduate college, his daughter Robyn get married and his grand baby Adeline enter the world.
