NEIL GARY NEWMAN

Neil G. Newman, 76, of Westfield, MA passed away Friday, January 14, 2022 at Baystate Hospital with his family by his side.

Neil was the son of the late Leona (Garber) and Morris Newman. He grew up in Springfield, graduating from Classical High School and then later from American International College with a degree in Education focused on Spanish, History and Special Education. He worked for 33 years as a Special Education teacher for the town of Ware, MA before retiring in 2001. He also taught drivers education for many years at several driving schools throughout the area. He had the privilege of not only teaching his students but his own children and stepchildren how to drive. When he was not working, he enjoyed traveling around on his Goldwing motorcycle, with the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, making many friends along the way. He also enjoyed tinkering with lawnmowers and snowblowers in his spare time. Neil also had a keen sense of humor and would often be heard telling jokes to his family and friends. 

Neil is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Karen Newman, his children, Anissa Newman (Shelly) of Williamsburg, MA and Monte Newman (Laurie) of Indian Orchard and his stepchildren Jeffrey Barton (Kimberly), Christopher Barton (Cheryl) and Jennie Ouellette all of Westfield. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Mathew, Josephine, Kayla, Chase, Austin and Evan.

Family and Friends are invited to gather for a Celebration Of Neil's Life on Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 1:00 - 5:00 PM at the Pavillion of Shaker Farms County Club, 866 Shaker Rd, Westfield, MA 01085  Please RSVP to Karen Newman by Saturday, May 14, 2022. 

Donations can be made in Neil’s honor to the American Heart Association or The Kidney Foundation.
