BLANDFORD – Bruce Paterson, 82, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on June 16, 2023, at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, MA.
Bruce was born in Providence, RI on August 1, 1940, to the late Horatio Paterson and Mary Paterson (Balfour).
Bruce graduated from Providence High School and later attended the University of Rhode Island.
Bruce proudly served his county during the Vietnam Era in the United States Army. While serving in the Army, Bruce received extensive computer and IT training setting the course for his future career. After finishing his service in the Army Bruce worked for RCA which opened the way for his new position with Sperry Univac. Bruce had worked for many years with Sperry and become one of the first salesmen of computers to public and private corporations. He enjoyed traveling the Globe and introducing the computer to the masses which changed the world as we know it today. Bruce finished his career as the Director of IT for the Wall Street Dow Jones & Barrons.
Bruce loved being a “gentleman” farmer (AKA no profit) at his home in Blandford, a skill he enjoyed teaching to his children. He enjoyed horses, traveling, fishing, and sailing with his family, trips in his Airstream, and snow skiing when he was younger.
Bruce is predeceased by his parents, 1 brother, and 4 sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years Maureen C. Paterson (Gallagher) of Blandford, MA, his sons Scott B. Paterson and his wife Cindy of Blandford, MA, and R. Todd Paterson and his wife Korrena of Blandford, MA, his daughter Buffy J. Drewson of Point Pleasant, NJ, his grandchildren: Luke A. Paterson and William Z. Paterson, Sheaden J. Drewson, Stephanie Collins and her husband John, Hannah Griffin and her husband Eric, and Natalie Dandeneau and her husband David, his great-grandchildren Isla Collins and Declan Collins, his sister Elizabeth Paterson (Gould) along with many other family members and friends.
