Robert "Bobby" P. (Jr.) Smarse

Robert “Bobby” Smarse Jr., 73, passed away at home on August 2, 2021.  Bobby was born on January 30, 1948 in Westfield, son to the late Robert Sr. and Amelia (Caba) Smarse.  He was raised and educated in Westfield and was a graduate of Westfield High School, Class of 1966 and Westfield State College, Class of 1970.  Bob’s passion was music.  He enjoyed all genres but especially the Beatles and other British Invasion groups.  He was at Woodstock and enjoyed concerts at Tanglewood and spending time in Stanley Park.  Critiquing movies was second only to his passion for music.  He shared his extensive knowledge of music and film and would have someone watching or listening to something they might not have chosen themselves.  Bobby was an avid New England sports fan especially the Red Sox and Patriots.  He worked as a Staff Psychologist-Residential Supervisor for the state of Massachusetts for many years before his retirement.  For the past several years, Bobby has been the caretaker for his Aunt June.  He loved living in Westfield and owned Big Vinyl Records.  Bobby is survived by his loving daughter Sabrina Smarse and her husband Gary Winograd of FL,  Grandpa Bob to Aliyah Winograd, and nephew to June Lehrer.  He will be missed dearly by so many friends who got to know Bobby.  A Celebration of Life for Bobby will take place on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 4:00PM-6:00PM at Westfield Funeral Home and Cremation, 4 Princeton Street in Westfield.  To express condolences to the family of Bobby, please visit www.westfieldfuneralhome.com for Bobby’s tribute page.
