SHANNON FERGUSON Obituary

Cheshire, CT – Shannon Kelly Ferguson, 45, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Midstate Medical Center in Meriden, CT.

Shannon was born on January 11, 1977, in Springfield, MA to Leroy Ferguson and Donna Ann Ferguson (Nolan).

Shannon graduated from Westfield High School Class of 1995. Shannon excelled in playing softball and basketball. She was a star basketball player throughout high school and was awarded best shortstop player in Western Massachusetts 4 years in a row. Her basketball skills were as dominant as her softball skills, and she enjoyed playing in big games and going against rival talent. Her passion for sports continued through her adult years.

Shannon continued her higher education by earning her associate's degree in Criminal Justice from Holyoke Community College and her bachelor’s degree from Mt. Holyoke College in African American Studies and Sociology. She had a passion for dancing and music. She would often ask her brother/youngest of the two to play something for her or she would ask for a custom-made beat or groove to dance or listen to.

Shannon leaves her parents Leroy and Donna Ferguson of Coplay, PA, her brothers Scot Ferguson and his wife Cindy of Monson, MA and Shawn Ferguson of New York, NY, her godson Noah Lamb, her best friend Suzanne Rodriguez and her husband Edwin, along with many other family members and close friends.

Family and friends will gather for a time of visitation and celebration on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, from 1- 3 pm at Westfield Funeral Home and Cremation, 4 Princeton Street, Westfield, MA 01085.  A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

It means so much to us to hear how Shannon impacted people's lives and how she spread so much joy, happiness, and a helping hand to all when in need. She will always be in our thoughts and our hearts forever.

Shannon Kelly Ferguson, Our Princess. Fly and Soar High!

As the Master Ludwig Van Beethoven said to a young Frant Liszt – “Off with you, for you will give happiness and joy to many other people. There is nothing better or greater than that” of course this would have been said in German, but it translates wonderfully. Shannon always thought this was a groovy statement…. An eternity of cheers for our Shannon.
