Theresa (Brady) Meagher

Theresa Anne Meagher died peacefully at her daughter’s home on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Theresa was born in Newark, NJ to the late Patrick George and Mary Catherine (Hayes) Brady. She attended Our Lady of the Valley High School, Orange, NJ.  Upon graduating, she worked as a secretary for the Welfare Department of the City of Newark. After raising her family, she returned to work as an executive secretary for Kean University, Union, NJ until her retirement in June 2010. She was predeceased by her devoted and loving husband, John J. Meagher and their infant daughter Anne.

Theresa is survived by her children: daughter Mary Ellen and her husband, Richard Burke of Westfield, MA; son John of Cape May, NJ; Helen Meagher of Elizabeth, NJ; son Paul and his wife, Susan of Garwood, NJ; daughter Theresa (Tracey) and her husband, Bart Carey of Hampton Bays, NY; son Patrick and his wife Laura of River Edge, NJ; son Robert and his wife, Patricia of Hazlet, NJ. She cherished her fifteen grandchildren: Theresa (Tracey), Patrick and Christopher Burke; John, Michael and Mark Meagher; Jessica White and Elizabeth Meagher; Samantha, Theresa and Bart Carey; Kathleen and Patrick Meagher; Kelly and Katie Meagher. She leaves her beloved sister, Eileen R. Brady of Roselle Park, NJ.  She was also predeceased, by her brother John (Jack) F. Brady and her dear sisters Kathleen M. Holmes and Patricia M. Brady. Theresa will be sadly missed by her nephews, nieces, including grand and great nephews and nieces as well as many cousins. She also had loyal and caring friends with whom she shared her love of life and faith.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Sullivan Funeral Home, 146 East Second Street, Roselle, NJ.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Saint Genevieve’s Church, 200 Monmouth Road, Elizabeth, NJ. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ.

The Burke, Carey and Meagher families wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the staff of Baystate Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
