Vernon Joseph Villeneuve, 71, passed away at home on Wednesday, February 24, 2021. Vernon, a son of the late Vernon W. and Rosalie (Cardinal) Villeneuve was born in Springfield on July 3, 1949. He was a graduate of Springfield Trade High School, Class of 1967. He worked for his father Vernon as a radio and television technician at A.A. Television and Sound. Vernon enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his country honorably during the Vietnam War and was attached to the 601st Photography Squad at Ubon Air Base in Thailand from 1972-1974. Vern enjoyed building small rockets and shooting them off in a big field to the delight of his nieces & nephews. He also was a photographer who enjoyed filming pictures of nature and military planes. He learned the art of developing his own film and took great pride in his pictures. Vernon was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Eugene "Dickie" and Norman Villeneuve, and step-mother Louise Nickerson Grant Villeneuve. Vernon is survived by his children Denise and Peter, his sister Shirley Brouillette, sisters-in-law Carolyn Villeneuve and Virginia Villeneuve, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside burial with full military honors will take place this Friday, March 5, 2021, at 10AM. Located at the Mass. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street in Agawam.
